Our curriculum
In Year 5, we will be exploring six exciting topics across the year, which will lead our learning and give the children the opportunity to experience all areas of the wider curriculum. These topics are:

Home Learning
Our priority for home learning is reading. We ask that parents listen to their children read, read with them or read to them a minimum of three times a week. This must be recorded in children's reading records.
All children also have a log in to Timestable Rockstars and will be set weekly home learning focusing on fluently recalling timestable and division facts; this prepares children for the Year 6 SATs tests. There will also be weekly Spelling Shed activities set via the Edshed platform, focusing on specific spelling rules.
Each half term there will also be a home learning project which will be linked to our driver topic. These projects will allow children to explore further an element of the topic we are studying and apply what we have learnt in lessons to new information.

Keeping parents informed
Throughout the year, parents will be invited to share their children's achievements in class, listen to the children read, join in with the children’s experiences and possibly volunteer to go on school trips. Our half termly newsletters will be sent home and can be accessed through the school newsletter tab above.
