Childhood Pledge

We pledge to all our children that we will provide memorable experiences and opportunities throughout their time at school. This will allow them to grow into well-rounded citizens who can succeed as individuals and contribute to their society.

Throughout their school journey, the children will take part in activities linked to the following areas: citizenship, culture and heritage, being active, life skills, the environment, learning from visits and visitors, the arts and the IFTL community.

Citizenship

Culture & Heritage

I will be supported to engage with others, to develop my understanding of my community and allow me to be a responsible and active citizen.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Vote in a school election
  • Represent Priors Hall in the community
  • Contribute ideas to school council

I will be supported to understand and appreciate where I belong within my community, including my past, the values and belief of others and how all of this impacts on my future.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Visit local landmarks
  • Visit several different places of worship
  • Celebrate other cultures in my community which differ from my own

Active

Life Skills

I will be supported to learn about living an active and flourishing lifestyle so I can make informed and healthy decisions that have a positive effect on my own life and those around me.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in inter-house tournaments
  • Cook a healthy meal
  • Go on a residential

I will be supported to learn about managing money sensibly. This will help me develop life skills and understand how to look after myself and contribute to my family.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Organise a fundraising event
  • Budget for a project
  • Explore different professions and what I would like to do after education

Environment

Visits & Visitors

I will be supported to learn how to look after the world I live in. I will understand the impact I can have on the world around me and I will strive to care for and protect the planet.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Take part in Forest School
  • Take responsibility for maintaining and improving an area of the school
  • Visit a local woodland area

I will be supported to experience a range of adventures which will broaden my knowledge and understanding around me.  I will welcome visitors into my learning environment and engage with the wider community through visits, making memories along the way.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Have a visit from a member of the local community
  • Be responsible for welcoming a visitor to Priors Hall
  • Participate in an off-site visit to deepen my learning

Arts

IFTL Community

I will be supported to explore my creativity and imagination whilst allowing me to develop my confidence through the enjoyment of the arts.

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in a school production
  • Learn how to play a musical instrument
  • Host a gallery/workshop/performance to showcase an art

I will be supported to work alongside my peers within my own school as well as schools in the IFTL trust. We will celebrate each other’s achievements and share our learning journey together.

 

I will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in a ‘Pen Pal’ scheme with another IFTL School
  • Join the IFTL Student Council Forum
  • Participate in cross-trust competitions
